A coupon batch gives customers their codes. An offer decides what they get. You can start from either side.

Before you start

An offer can only use a batch that is finished and ready. The batch must be:
  • fully prepared (not Preparing Codes, and not in Error),
  • synced to Shopify, with its Shopify discount created.
Batches that are not ready do not appear in the offer’s batch picker, and Create offer on the batch page is disabled with the reason. Recurring offers cannot use a coupon batch.
  1. Create or edit an offer.
  2. Under how customers receive the discount, choose Coupon Batch.
  3. Select Select Coupon Batch and pick a batch. The offer shows the batch’s name and number of codes, and you can browse its codes.
  4. Save the offer.
Customers must enter one of the batch’s codes to get the discount. They can type it in Shopify’s discount code field at checkout, or in the Cart Coupon field if you have added it to your cart (see Theme extensions). The batch then shows In Use. If you later change the offer’s method away from Coupon Batch, the offer is no longer linked to the batch.

Create an offer from the batch

You can create the offer from the batch page instead:
  1. Open the batch and go to the Linked Offers tab.
  2. Select Create offer. It is in the Shopify top bar when you use the app inside Shopify, and above the offers list otherwise. When the batch has no offers yet, the empty list has the button too.
  3. Choose the offer category and type, as for any new offer.
  4. The offer form opens with Coupon Batch selected and this batch chosen. You can change either if you need to.
  5. Save. You return to the batch’s Linked Offers tab.
Create offer is greyed out until the batch is ready, and hovering over it shows the reason. See Create offer is greyed out.

Manage the offers on a batch

The Linked Offers tab lists every offer that uses the batch, in the same list as the Offers page, with search, filters, status chips, and saved views. Start and End are shown, and Method is hidden because it is the same for all of them.
  • Select an offer to open it. The Coupon Batches menu item stays selected, and Back, Cancel, and Delete return you to this tab.
  • Use the same bulk actions as the Offers page: activate, deactivate, enable, duplicate, delete, tags, and priority.
  • Duplicate keeps the copy on the same batch, but the copy is created already ended, so it does not apply yet. Open it and set new dates when you want it to run.
  • Test an offer from here exactly as you would from the Offers page. See Testing offers.
If you delete the last offer on a batch and also choose to delete the attached coupon batch, the batch is deleted too and you go back to the batch list.

Dates

A coupon batch has no start or end date of its own. In Shopify it is one discount whose dates follow the offers linked to it:
  • It starts at the earliest start date of its offers.
  • It ends at the latest end date of its offers. If any offer has no end date, the batch has none either.
  • A batch with no offers is inactive in Shopify.
Atom Commerce updates the dates whenever you save, activate, deactivate, or delete an offer on the batch. Each offer still follows its own start and end dates at checkout. A code gives the discount of an offer only while that offer is active, even if the batch as a whole is live because another offer on it is. So you can run a short promotion and a longer one on the same batch, and each applies only in its own dates.
If a message says the batch’s Shopify dates may be wider than its offers, save any offer on the batch to correct them.

Several offers on one batch

More than one offer can use the same batch, for example a percentage discount and a free gift. Customers use the same codes for both. See priority and stacking for how overlapping offers are resolved.

Delete a batch

A batch that an offer uses cannot be deleted. Remove the batch from its offers first, or delete the offers. See Managing coupon batches.
